How do I join as a Postdoc or PhD candidate?

Postdoc positions

At Orion, postdoctoral collaboration opportunities in Finland are mainly built through established Finnish academia–industry programmes, such as PoDoCo and Tandem Industry Academia (TIA). Through these programmes, we collaborate with researchers, universities, research institutes and industry partners to support high-quality research, innovation and future R&D capabilities.

Orion follows the official application timelines of these programmes. When relevant opportunities are available, they are prepared and opened according to the programme-specific schedules and application instructions.

PoDoCo – Post Docs in Companies

PoDoCo is aimed at recently graduated doctoral researchers who want to apply their research expertise in collaboration with a company. The programme typically includes a research phase and a company phase. PoDoCo application rounds are organised twice a year, with one application round in the spring and another in the autumn. 

Tandem Industry Academia (TIA)

TIA is a programme by the Finnish Research Impact Foundation that supports impactful collaboration between academia and industry. The programme provides opportunities for both postdoctoral researchers and more experienced academic researchers to work closely with companies on research topics with scientific and industrial impact.

TIA includes two annual funding calls:

      • TIA Postdoc (spring application round)
      • TIA Fellow (autumn application round)

PhD candidates

At the moment, Orion is not actively seeking PhD candidates or host PhD research projects. We therefore unfortunately cannot consider inquiries related to PhD research positions.
